The Do's and Don'ts of Prom Dress Shopping
There’s a lot of pressure in shopping for the perfect prom dress, especially if you wait until last-minute to start your shopping. We want to make prom dress shopping a positive experience for all our girls though, so we have compiled a list of dress shopping do’s and don’ts to minimize stress and hassle.
The Do’s
- Try on a variety of sizes
Sizes vary from brand to brand, so don’t assume you’re one specific size! You could be a size 3 in one brand, and a size 5 in another. With each dress you try on, you should try various sizes in order to find the perfect fit.
Stick to your budget
Prom is a pricey occasion, so your dress won’t be your only expense. In addition to a dress, you still have shoes, accessories, hair and makeup appointments, and more. When shopping, set a budget and only try on dresses within your price range to avoid any price tag induced disappointment.
The Don’ts
Don’t shop if you’re in a rush
Prom dress shopping is not a task to tackle when running errands. Shopping for the perfect dress is a process—you have to dig through racks of dresses, find your size, try each dress on, and more. Shopping for the perfect dress is quite the time commitment. If you’re in a rush, it would be wise to choose another day to go shopping.
Don’t bring a large group of people
Shopping with your friends is fun but may not be suitable for prom dress shopping. Friends and family feel comfortable enough to share their opinions, especially when it comes to something as significant as choosing the perfect prom dress. To minimize the number of opinions and conflict when shopping, bring no more than two people.
